Israeli Court Halts Netanyahu’s Trial Hearings
The adjournment was made following a request by Netanyahu during a confidential court meeting, according to an Israeli publication.
This closed session was attended by high-ranking security figures, including the Israeli military's intelligence head, Shlomi Binder, and Mossad chief David Barnea.
“In light of the explanations provided, which included substantial additions and changes compared to the information presented for previous decisions, we partially grant the request and cancel at this stage Mr. Netanyahu's testimony days scheduled for June 30 and July 2,” the judges stated.
Although Netanyahu had initially petitioned for a two-week delay in the court proceedings, this appeal was rejected by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara, who argued that there was insufficient reason to justify the delay.
The court’s choice to cancel the hearings comes in the wake of multiple appeals by US President Donald Trump to dismiss Netanyahu’s legal case altogether, branding it a “witch hunt” aimed at the Israeli leader.
Netanyahu is currently facing accusations of accepting bribes, engaging in fraud, and violating public trust—offenses that could result in prison if validated in court.
In January, the prime minister began undergoing questioning connected to Cases 1000, 2000, and 4000, all of which he refutes.
The attorney general officially submitted an indictment concerning these allegations back in November 2019.
