DSEC Launches "Intelligent Commodity Code Enquiry System"

MACAU, October 8 - The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) rolled out the “Intelligent Commodity Code Enquiry System” today (8 October). By incorporating intelligent technology, the system aims to further improve the efficiency and accuracy of commodity code searches, expedite access to import and export regulations for businesses and the public, while enhancing the accessibility and user experience of statistical services.

In recent years, DSEC has progressively integrated intelligent technology into areas such as data collection and data processing. Building on this effort, the newly developed “Intelligent Commodity Code Enquiry System” seeks to improve the efficiency and accuracy of code searches. Moving beyond traditional keyword searches, the system accurately analyses user-inputted commodity names or descriptions, automates cross-references, and suggests the most appropriate commodity code and details. If the enquired commodities are subject to import and export regulations, the system displays prompt notifications along with the contact details of relevant governing departments, enabling users to check regulatory requirements in real time.

Catering to a diverse user base, the “Intelligent Commodity Code Enquiry System” supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese and English. The system can be accessed via the DSEC website (www.dsec.gov.mo) or mobile application. Going forward, DSEC will continue to optimise the system’s features, providing the community with more convenient and high-quality official statistical services.
